Beta-Caryophyllene

Beta-caryophyllene is a sesquiterpene, considered the most common terpene present in cannabis, it is also commonly found in a multitude of foods, such as black pepper. rosemary, hops, and cloves. Beta-Caryophyllene, an FDA approved food additive, also approved by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). Beta-caryophyllene, a terpene that is also considered a dietary and anti-inflammatory cannabinoid, binds selectively to CB2 Receptors, potentially modulating inflammatory processes via the endocannabinoid system. Because Beta-caryophyllene doesn’t interact with the CB1 receptor it is devoid of psychoactive side effects. Beta-caryophyllene has been tested in preclinical studies for reducing inflammation, boosting immune system function, pain relief, stress and anxiety relief, digestive aid, and has been shown to have neuroprotective benefits. Beta-caryophyllene has shown great potential in anti-addiction (alcohol and tobacco).
