D-Limonene

Limonene is found in the peels of citrus fruits (namely lemons and oranges), rosemary, peppermint, juniper, and in pine needles. It is often used to promote weight loss, prevent cancer, treat cancer, and treat bronchitis. In pharmaceuticals, limonene is added to help medicinal ointments and creams penetrate the skin. Limonene is being researched for the possible ability to block cancer-forming chemicals and kill cancer cells in the laboratory. In a study performed by the Department of Biology, Lebanon Valley College, it was concluded that “the data suggests that d-limonene possesses immunomodulatory activity that must be considered when utilizing the compound for therapuetic or commercial purposes.” Limonene can help treat acid reflux, anti-anxiety, and people have experienced antidepressant effects. It is considered an anti-depressant, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-proliferate, anxiolytic, an aid with gastro-oesophageal reflux, and an immunostimulant.
